The Servicio Geológico Colombiano (SGC) detected an increased temperature of the volcano’s ground.
On 18 February, volcanologists performed field research in the area of Finca La Florida, in the vicinity of the volcano, to measure the current temperature of the soil and reported changes in the vegetation.
The investigated area is located 300 meters above the La Florida hot springs with a temperature close to 79 °C, lastly measured on 20 September 2022. During the research, the temperature varied between 70 °C and 95 °C, accompanied by pulsating steam emissions and vegetation nearby appeared dried out.
These signs are typical for active volcanoes with changes in its manner. Despite this behavior, the alert level for the volcano remains Yellow.
