After almost three months with little or no activity, since the last eruption took place at Lewotolo, the volcano entered a renewed explosive phase defined by an eruption at 07:47 local time this morning.
A small white-to-grey plume spewed ash to estimated 6,000 ft (1,800 m) elevation and extended to the east of the volcano.

The PVMBG local volcano observatory reported a seismic signal with a maximum amplitude of 8.6 mm and a duration of 35 seconds.

The warning bulletin states that ballistic impacts of volcanic bombs and pyroclastic flows could affect an area of about 2 km distance from the main crater.
