Ruapehu (North Island): (5 Oct) The volcanic tremor at the volcano continues at low levels over the past 3 months.
The Crater Lake (Te Wai ā-moe) temperature has decreased from around 26 °C in early July to fluctuate between 21 and 25 °C in August and September. The Current lake temperature is 23 °C. This is consistent with heat flow into the lake of about 150-200 MW. Available analyses of water samples from Crater Lake have shown no changes in the lake’s chemistry. This indicates that there has been no evidence of chemical interaction between magma and the hydrothermal system controlling the composition, level, and temperature of the Crater Lake.

To summarize, all monitoring data remain at background levels with decreasing potential for impending eruption. The most likely scenario of the ongoing unrest is expected no eruption at all or a minor eruption within the lake.
The Volcanic Alert Level remains at 1 and the Aviation Colour Code at Green.

Piton de la Fournaise (La Réunion): (5 Oct) According to the local observatory Observatoire Volcanologique du Piton de la Fournaise, the effusive eruption is reported to be ceased today.
The latest available webcam images seem to confirm that the lava flow stopped to be active at about 10:10 local time this morning and is no longer visible in the main spatter cone.

Compared to the previous days, the fountaining activity decreased, but still remains above the average levels.

The parasitic vent at the southern flank of the main cone continues to feed the lava flow primarily running through lava tunnels. It mostly remains hidden from view, it emerges somewhere downslope several kilometers from the spatter cone. Branched lava flows continue to be active in two arms on the east and southeast slopes at approx. altitude 1,800 m.
Satellite-based measurements of SO2 concentrations in the atmosphere continue to detect elevated SO2 plumes ejected by the volcano. Sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions reached to a 2500 tonnes on 3 October and extended about 400 km to the west-southwest from the volcano. The estimated height of the gas and water-vapor plume is reported at approx. more than 4 km.
