White Island volcano (New Zealand): low-level unrest continues, alert status stays at 1

On 27 April, the GeoNet volcanologists did a monitoring flight over the volcano to confirm continuing low-level volcanic unrest.

The temperature of steam and gas emissions decreased to 111 °C (27 April) from 288 °C measured on 16 March.
The geyser vent appears to be water-saturated during the flight.
No ash emissions have been observed since late February 2022.

Volcanic Alert Level remains at level 1.
