The new heating period at Crater Lake, which started 2 weeks ago, continues.
The lake temperature slightly heated from 31 °C to 32 °C over the past week. The slower increase in temperature may suggest an existing plug blocking the vent beneath the lake as mentioned in the last update. This could indicate an ability to accumulate the pressure within the volcanic edifice which may lead to sudden explosive interaction.
A strongly elevated volcanic tremor continues to indicate the flux of gas rising inside the volcano’s conduits.
The volcanic alert status remains at Level 2, but the Aviation Color Code raised to Yellow.
