A breathtaking aerial view of strombolian explosion at the volcano has been captured by Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) in collaboration with CASCADE UAV (Complex Autonomous aircraft Systems Configuration, Analysis and Design Exploratory) for volcanic monitoring and measurements in January 2022.
Incandescent plastic, juvenile scoria is being ejected into the air to a height of about 50 meters above the vent accompanied by the short-lived, explosive outburst.
The lava flow on the S-SW slope remains active, currently about 75 m long.
Ash plumes reached approx. 15,400 ft (4,700 m) altitude and extended about 15 km to the southwest of the volcano.

Thought I’d share this beautiful shot of Fuego in the morning. Captured during @CascadeUav collaboration conducting/continuing various experiments using #UAS for volcanic measurements and monitoring. @UoM_MACE @UOBFlightLab @insivumehgt pic.twitter.com/i1cEWbT5sC
