Ash and gas plume(s) rose to a maximum of 1,300 m (4,265 ft) above the vent. There was 1 seismically detected explosion reported. The alert level remained at „Level 2 – Alert“ (on a 4-level scale).

The effusive eruption at the volcano continues.

The latest Sentinel-2 acquisition over the volcano on 17 December confirmed that a new lava flow arm started to descend from the summit vent towards the western flank.

Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Darwin warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 14000 ft (4300 m) altitude or flight level 140 and is moving at 10 kts in E direction.
