Vegan Products We’re Looking Forward to Trying in 2023

Whether it’s innovative cruelty-free meats or vegan versions of iconic snacks, we live for trying the newest items on the market. Having more options on grocery store shelves means there are even more ways to help animals in our daily lives, simply by choosing vegan products. Here are just some of the new cruelty-free products you should start seeing on grocery store shelves in the coming year:

More Animal-Free Meat

Juicy Marbles’ “steaks” and CHi Foods’ organic Plant-Based Pork are exciting new options in the world of vegan meat, because cows and pigs are smart, playful individuals who deserve to live.

Fish feel pain, too, yet the fishing industry robs them of the opportunity to enjoy their rich, complex lives. That’s why we’ll be buying vegan seafood from brands like Omni, Current Foods, Save da Sea, and TMRW Foods.

Save Cows by Choosing Plant-Based Dairy

The Laughing Cow is coming out with vegan cheese, Miyoko’s Creamery is working on a cottage cheese made from cashews, and there’s even a new vegan milk infused with mood-boosting herbs. The dairy industry is scared, and it should be!

Want more tasty vegan dairy products? Keep an eye out for Milkadamia’s Coffee Latte and Milk Tea, NadaMoo! snack bites, Verve Coffee Roaster’s canned oat milk lattes, and Nona Vegan Alfredo Style sauce.

Eggs Without the Chickens

A good tofu scramble will never go out of style, but we also love the new vegan egg products that have revolutionized breakfast and made it much kinder to chickens. Pourable liquid “eggs” like Spero Foods’ Pepita Egg and the Zero Egg make it easy to whip up a savory scramble or omelet.

We’re also hoping to see Zero Egg’s Plant Based Egg Patty hit stores soon—it contains 10 grams of protein and can be ready in less than a minute. And of course, the WunderEggs from Crafty Counter are still on our list as one of the “must have” products of the new year.

Healthier Convenience Meals

Quick frozen meal options are always good to have on hand, especially if they’re better for animals and for you. Planet Based Foods’ Taquitos are crunchy, delicious, and packed with nutrients from hemp seeds.

Frozen entrées from Strong Roots (Greek Orzo Pasta Bake and Thai Green Veg Curry) and Wholly Veggie! (Cheezy Cauliflower and Broccoli, Southwest Chili, and Thai Curry) will help you achieve your health goals in the new year.

Mighty Yum’s vegan “lunchables” kits will be a go-to for kids and adults alike, with three tasty varieties that are nostalgic and satisfying. You’ll be saving cows, pigs, and turkeys by choosing these vegan lunch kits—plus, they’re higher in protein and lower in fat than similar animal-based options.

Animal-Friendly Snacking All Year Round

We’re willing to bet that airy, crispy, flavorful Snacklins will be one of the biggest snacks of 2023, along with Outstanding Foods’ Cheese Balls. Both are made without dairy or other animal-derived ingredients, so you can snack happily.

If you like your snacks on the sweet side, Yumy Bear candy is a great low-sugar option that doesn’t contain gelatin (i.e., someone’s boiled bones).

If you haven’t already made the switch, going vegan is the best New Year’s resolution you can make. You’ll save countless animals and help combat the climate catastrophe, all while improving your health at the same time. VIDEO: Mabel Spends Her First Christmas in a Loving Home—Instead of in a Miserable Laboratory-Supplying Factory

Mabel the beagle is full of holiday cheer, because she got the greatest gift of all this year: being able to celebrate her first Christmas in a warm, loving home instead of a cold metal cage.

Mabel spent seven Christmases imprisoned in a breeding facility in Virginia operated by Envigo, which supplied dogs to laboratories for experiments. After PETA’s undercover investigation exposed systemic suffering, neglect, and miserable confinement at the facility, Mabel—along with nearly 4,000 other beagles—was finally released from the hellhole.

Like the dogs shown in the photo above, Mabel likely suffered in a steel cage, surrounded by the deafening cries of thousands of other beagles who were imprisoned in Envigo’s dog-breeding facility. Now, she’s enjoying the warm embrace of her loving family—and her new Christmas toys.

After giving Mabel some much-needed TLC and screening potential homes, PETA found the perfect fit. Soon afterward, Mabel became the newest member of her devoted, doting family. In the safety of her new home, she gets endless cuddles, tons of attention, space to explore and play, new toys to chew on, and the respect she always deserved.

We also placed 24 other dogs from the facility in permanent homes, where they are well cared for and forever free from exploitation.

Mabel’s Former Prison Has Closed Down—but You Can Help Other Dogs Like Her

While we embrace this holiday with cheer knowing that every beagle freed from this hellhole won’t suffer there anymore, countless others are still going to spend this Christmas locked in sterile laboratory cages, including at other Envigo facilities—and they need your help.

Medical Manufacturer Ends Circus Bandage Sales After PETA Appeal

After hearing from PETA about the cruel treatment of animals exploited in circuses—where it’s standard practice to beat, shock, chain, and whip elephants, tigers, and other animals so as to intimidate them into performing confusing, uncomfortable, and even painful tricks—Dukal Corporation will stop producing bandages that feature images of animals in circus shows. In thanks, PETA is sending the company vegan chocolates.

“As circuses with animals disappear so should the exploitative imagery, and PETA praises Dukal Corporation for no longer putting artwork of animals in circuses on its bandages,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA encourages everyone to embrace today’s cruelty-free entertainment that showcases talented humans and never deprives animals of all that’s precious to them, including their freedom.”

Dukal’s decision follows that of other major companies prompted by PETA to drop cruel circus imagery, including Trader Joe’s and Nabisco.

PETA points out that in addition to inflicting painful abuse in order to exert control by domination, circuses tear baby animals away from their mothers, lock animals in cages, chain them, and cart them from city to city as if they were unfeeling equipment. The group asks everyone to support animal-free circuses and to call on Shriners International to follow the lead of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, which has announced its plans to use only willing human participants when it returns to the big top.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to use for entertainment”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
