Explosive eruption of the volcano continues during the past two weeks. On 15 and 20 August Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Darwin recorded two explosions at the volcano that generated an ash plumes, which reached approx. 14,000 ft (4,300 m) and 7,000 ft (2,100 m) altitude and drifted W-SW. A satellite image from 17 August shows that incandescence continues to be observed from the crater.
