Following the latest paroxysm episode at the volcano over the past few days, significant morphological changes to the edifice occurred. The current picture of the volcano captured from San Pedro Yepocapa revealed a scar in ravine partially filled by massive amounts of mostly loose volcanic material accumulated from numerous pyroclastic flows.
Lahars (mud flows) might occur during heavy rainfall in the zone, as rain water can remobilize such fresh ash deposits.
