Lava fountains returned to the Halemaʻumaʻu crater floor’s north vent.
On 25 March, the 15th effusive episode commenced with eight small spattering events (9:27, 9:55, 10:11, 10:29, 10:48, 11:07, 11:27, and 11:45 AM local time), which gradually transited to form vigorous lava fountains, lava jets have reached approx. 150-300 feet (50-100 meters) in height. It has triggered multiple lava flows covering the Halemaʻumaʻu crater floor.
Around midday, the south vent also became active, feeding lava onto the crater floor.
Currently, lava flows from both vents have covered approximately 5% of the Halemaʻumaʻu crater floor
Prior to the erutpion, a seismic tremor peaked as usual and instruments recorded a ground uplift transition from inflation to deflation beneath Halemaʻumaʻu crater.
This marks the 15th eruptive episode since December 23, 2024.
