Based on a comprehensive analysis and evaluation of visual and instrumental monitoring by the Pusat Vulkanologi dan Mitigasi Bencana Geologi local observatory, the activity at the volcano has increased.
During the period between 3 January and 13 February, about 2000 volcano-tectonic earthquakes and 3 seismic tremor events occurred beneath the edifice. As magma pushes through the crust, it generates seismic energy, which then fractures the surrounding rocks.

As a result, the volcano’s activity level was raised from Level III (SIAGA) to Level IV (AWAS) as of 03:00 AM local time.
Residents, visitors, and tourists are advised to avoid any activities within a 6 km radius of the eruption center, as well as within the Southwest-Northeast sector up to 7 km.
