Lava fountains returned to the Halemaʻumaʻu crater floor’s north vent after the fountaining of the 8th eruptive period was being halted on 4 February.

On 11 February, the 9th effusive phase was preceded by a small spattering, which gradually raised to form spectacular, dome-shaped fire fountains. In the beginning, at about 10:45 local time, some lava jest surpassed 100 meters (330 ft) in height.
It has triggered a short lava overflow from the south vent, starting in a couple of minutes later at approx. 10:50 local time.

A seismic tremor peaked at 10:25 local time, and instruments recorded a ground uplift transition from inflation to deflation beneath Halemaʻumaʻu crater.

This marks the 9th eruptive episode since December 23, 2024.
