Kilauea volcano (Hawai’i): eruption resumed, marking the start of the 8th phase

The effusive eruption at the Halemaʻumaʻu summit crater reactivated.
In the evening of 2nd February, the activity preceded a small spattering at the north vent, culminating into vigorous fountaining until 09:52 PM local time tonight when it has become stable.
The activity accelerated from low-height (50ft/15m) to strong, high-height (250ft/80m) lava fountains accompanied with multiple lava flows in a short time (1 hour).
Seismic tremor peaked at 09:52 PM local time, and instruments recorded a ground uplift transition from inflation to deflation beneath Halemaʻumaʻu crater.
A livestream of the Kīlauea summit is available here.
This marks the 8th eruptive episode since December 23, 2024.
