Following the paused phase, the eruption has reactivated in the morning of 24 December.
Dome-shaped red lava fountains returned back to the Halema‘uma‘u crater floor, feeding the newly lava lake from several vents at the southwestern part. Lava fountains surpassed heights of 75 meters.

Glowing red lava fountains continue to erupt at #Kilauea summit this Christmas Eve. #HVO scientists monitored the eruption from the caldera rim, measuring fountain heights at ~246 ft (75 m).
