The lava flow continues to ooze out from the eruptive fissure in the northern direction.
This means that it doesn’t pose any potential danger to the city of Grindavik (located southwest of the fissure) and any infrastructure, including roads in the vicinity of the eruption site.
Lava fountains continue to keep columns of molten fragments relatively high, some lava jets may surpass 100 meters.
Several chains of elongated steep-sided ridges, known as spatter ramparts, have already been constructed above fissure vents by continuous fountaining.
Volcanic tremor subsided significantly after the eruption onset. Prior to the eruption, the tremor increased to high values as an initial batch of magma pushed its way towards the surface.
