The eruption column from the recent eruptive eruption has been traveling along vast stretches of the Bering Sea, currently dissipating approx. 1,520 km to the east-southeast of the volcano. The height of the ash column has been reported at an altitude of 28,000 feet (8,500 meters) by the Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) in Tokyo.

According to the local institute, the eruption has been taking place from the „RAS“ (as interpreted on the observatory website) lava dome.
