Ibu volcano (Halmahera, Indonesia): above-average eruptions continue

The elevated eruptive activity from the volcano continues.

At 19:04 local time, a stronger-than-usual explosion produced a dense dark ash column propagating towards the east and northeast. Ash emissions rose about 2 km above the cinder cone within the main caldera.
In the Level III (SIAGA), people are advised to avoid the area within a radius of 4 km and 5 km from the crater.

The warning bulletin states that lahars (mud flows) could occur if heavy rainfalls remobilise fresh ash deposits and may pose threaten to inhabited areas.
