Stromboli (Eolian Islands, Italy): The volcano institute in Catania (INGV Catania) reported that weak effusive (lava flow) activity has resumed from the vent previously located at 510 m above sea level on the Sciara del Fuoco. The vent migrated a bit downhill and is now at 485 m above sea level while the lava flow front had been about 200 m above the coast in the early afternoon. Blocks detaching from the lava front often roll towards the coastline and reach the sea.
…6 Jul:
The activity appears to have returned to normal levels (similar to as it was before the sudden and intense magma surge on 4 July). The lava flow on the Sciara del Fuoco is no longer active this morning, at least judging from webcam imagery.
The current seismic signal also indicates frequent rockfalls.
According to an update from INGV, there are no signs of strombolian explosions.
