The previous article is incorrect. The alert level is not at an elevated state. JMA published a „volcanic forecast“ because the volcano is now seismically monitored- as several other volcanoes in Japan have become in the last few years as the monitoring operations are expanded. This means that the JMA alert level system can now be applied to this volcano- it has been assigned Level 1- normal.
