Today, the PVMBG surveillance webcam captured the first clear image of the volcano following the strong eruptive episode.
The origin green and vegetated area at the volcano has transformed into a black edifice, blanketed by a heavy load of dark lapilli and fine ash from the recent intense paroxysmal activity.
It remains unclear whether the eruptive phase has concluded or temporarily halted. However, the webcam image suggests that the volcano is currently calm, with only degassing observed at the summit.

The alert status for the volcano has been raised from Level III (Siaga) to Level IV (Awas) due to the ongoing high-magnitude explosive eruption over the past two days.
In order to mitigate the current risk, people are advised to avoid the area within approximately 6 km of the main crater.
