The current hazard map for the Grindavik area since the eruption ended (image: IMO)
The hazard assessment map for Grindavík area has been published by the Icelandic Met Office as the eruption ceased.
Even though the hazard map remains unchanged since the last update, there are couple of changes within zones.
In zone 4 (the town of Grindavík and its vicinity), fault movements and/or sinkholes may occur due to the ongoing magma intrusion beneath the Svartsengi area.
