Unfortunately, after the road was being cut by the lava flow, the advancing flow front continued to destroy another important objects in its path. Recently about half an hour ago, the lava reached the hot water pipe, the main transport channel for hot water from Svartsengi to Reykjanesbær. From the live stream webcam imagery, abundant vapour emissions indicate that the pipe has undergone a damaging.
Hot water will be safe for the next hour until another precaution will be taken.

A new hazard assessment map for Grindavík area has been published by the Icelandic Met Office due to the ongoing eruption.
The danger in the highest risk zones has increased significantly as the eruption commenced.

New drone images of the lava flow were published by Gregory Paul De Pascale, associate professor at the Department of Geology of the University of Iceland.

The lava flow front already cut the road and continues to advance towards the heat supply for Reykjanesbær and all of Suðurnesin. The fluidal basaltic lava flow, emerging from the chain of fissure vents, travels at high discharge rates (approx. 500 m per hour) and is currently less than a kilometre from the important building.

At about 05:30 AM this morning, a swarm of small-intensity earthquakes began to occur northeast of Sýlingarfell. Following the elevated seismic tremor, the new eruption started at approximately 06:00 AM local time.

Poas (Costa Rica): (8 Feb) The OVSICORI-UNA surveillance webcams continue to monitor minor phreatic-type explosions from the summit crater lake.
During 30 Jan-6 Feb, about 600 eruptions per day have been recorded daily, generating old country rock, indicating interaction between water and heated conduit-rocks rather than magma itself, to about 50-100 meters above the lake. On 4 February, a hydrothermal explosion produced a plume of steam, gas and a mixture of water and sediments to about 200 meters above the lake.
