A new eruptive fissure opened very close to the houses in the town Gríndavik a several minutes ago.
Lava fountains have been triggered by a sudden release of CO2-rich bubbles beneath the surface and are already erupting spreading lava flows.
It is unclear yet whether lava flows will advance towards houses or not. We need to wait on how the lava flow direction will develop soon.
