Semeru (East Java, Indonesia): The extrusive-explosive eruption at the volcano continues.
A powerful explosion from the Jonggring Saloko crater generated a small block-and-ash flow early this morning at 05:12 local time. The pyroclastic torrent followed the explosion on the growing lava dome in the inner summit crater. Collapsed parts of the lava dome turned into the pyroclastic flow racing down the southeastern ravine. Volcanologists find this type of eruption to be the Peléean type.
