The elevated effusive-explosive eruption at the volcano goes on.
Another lava-fountaining episode (so-called paroxysm) is taking place at the summit vent right now, as seen in the KVERT webcam image. Bursting lava fountains, accompanied by ash emissions, are ejecting glowing scoria bombs to an approx. height of several hundred meters above the crater and (likely) have been constructing the already formed cinder cone within the main vent. A considerable amount of hot fluid blebs land off the crater terrace to coalesce thereby and reactivate the formerly lava on the southwestern Kozyrevsky drainage (see the attached Sentinel-2 satellite image acquired today). This time, lava fountains do not feed the lava on the southeastern Apakhonchich chute.
Northeasterly dissipating ash emissions reached an altitude of 18,000 ft (5,500 m) and extended about 75 km to the northeast of the volcano.
