The activity at the volcano remains elevated. It is dominantly effusive in style, as viscous lava rises through the central conduit into the summit crater and overflows as thick lava flows on the extremely steep southern flanks of the stratovolcano.
A part of the lava blocks tumble down the slope, impressive glowing rockfalls are visible at night as the attached video shows. Occasionally, larger rockfalls turn into dangerous avalanches (known as pyroclastic flows).
