According to the volcano institute Observatoire Volcanologique de Goma (OVG), the effusive activity returned to the pre-eruptive stage starting on 17 May.

However, the activity remains confined within the volcano’s summit caldera associated with the intermittent night-time glow and constant degassing at the top of the volcano. The central lava lake is currently at stable condition suggests that there is a delicate equilibrium between heat and magma supply and loss (through cooling and mild emissions during degassing).
