Strombolian-sized mild explosions continue from the summit vent at a rate intervals of about 100 per day, ejecting glowing basaltic scoria bombs thrown at an approximate height of several dozens of meters.
The lava, keeping two flows active, continues to effuse in two directions onto the western and northeastern slopes.

Nevado del Ruiz (Colombia): Since the last update , Nevado Del Ruiz has continued to present daily eruptions of gas and ash ranging in height from 1,100 m to 1,800 m above the crater, observed this morning at 7.11 am.
Yesterday, an increase in volcano-tectonic events, associated with rock fracturing within the volcanic system was reported compared to the previous day. These seismic events are shallow, with depths ranging from 0.5 – 4.5 km, low energy, and localized around the crater.

As of April 16, there has been an increase in thermal anomalies at the crater floor. This represents the exit of volcanic material from the interior and is indicative of increased volcanic activity.
The volcano remains in Orange Alert, the second highest of a four-colour scale, implying an eruption is likely in the coming days to weeks.
