Stromboli volcano (Eolian Islands, Italy): yet another short-lived lava flow on Sciara del Fuoco yesterday

Another short-lived lava flow erupted from the volcano yesterday, but already ended as of this morning.
It seems that a surge of magma arrived at the summit vents, causing the partial collapse of the northern crater rim, which in turn generated a small pyroclastic flow (hot avalanche of hot rocks and ash) that traveled down the Sciara del Fuoco and allowed the overflowing lava to form a flow descending towards the sea.

The event was similar to the lava flows observed during the past months at irregular intervals ranging between a few weeks to months. These have become more frequent recently. Activity at the volcano is currently classified as „high“.
