Krakatau (Sunda Strait, Indonesia): (20 Dec) Eruptive activity continues at the volcano as evidenced by visual observations, satellite imagery, thermal signals, and seismic activity recorded at the volcano observatory.
The new cone of Anak Krakatau island is slowly growing and filling the landslide crater left by the 2018 collapse. Strombolian activity of fluctuating intensity have gradually increased the size of the cone itself, while occasional lava flow continued to form a delta on its western side.
