White Island volcano (New Zealand): minor ash emissions

The GeoNet webcam, located on the North rim, observed intermittent passive, mild emissions of steam and ash occurring from the active vent again.

On 5 October, flight observations confirmed a temperature of gas and steam to detect at 165 ºC.

Sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions reached to a 217-219 tonnes over the last week.

Both alert levels, the Aviation Color Code and the Volcanic Alert Level remain at Yellow and Level 2 respectively.
