Surveillance webcams of the Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) observed a short-lived eruption from the volcano at 13:47 local time yesterday.
A perpendicularly rising dense grey-to-black ash plume rose below estimated 20,000 ft (6.000 m) height as it didn’t appear to reach over clouds. Ash emissions continued until 14:16 local time.
The alert level for the volcano was raised to „orange“.
The recent activity at the volcano has been characterized by small explosions from the north crater of Mount Cerberus reaching altitudes under 10,000 ft (3 km).
The explosive activity and ash emissions at the volcano may increase again at any time.
