Sangay volcano (Ecuador): increased ash emissions

The intense activity at the volcano continues.

The Instituto Geofísico (IGEPN) reported that abundant ash-rich emissions and tall eruption plumes rose from the summit crater over the past two days.

Columns reached 7,9 km height and were dispersed towards the west-southwest.

Volcanic ash was reported in towns of Cebadas, Palmira, Sibambe, Tixán, Multitud, Chauzan and Atapo

Santa Cruz, located in the province of Chimborazo.
