A new eruption occurred from the active crater today at 16:15 local time. The explosion was likely phreatic-type, i.e. steam-rich blast of old rock without new magma emerging, that generated an ash-to-gas plume reaching approx. 3,280 ft (1,000 m) altitude and drifted NE.
The PVMBG volcano observatory reported a seismic signal with a maximum amplitude of 10 mm.

The lava flow ceased some time during Monday/Tuesday and is now no longer active. The latest available satellite image (3 Feb) confirms that the lava flow has stopped or at least decreased its advance.
The volcano continues to erupt near-continuous weak-to-moderate explosions at regular intervals of 3 to 7 per hour. Ash plumes reached approx. 15,400 ft (4,700 m) altitude and extended about 8-to-10 km to the west and southwest of the volcano.
