A series of five minor-to-moderate explosions occurred at the volcano between 05:22 and 05:26 local time on 15 December as reported the volcano observatory from Nicaragua.
Ash plumes rose 8,200 ft (2,500 m) above the summit crater, generating lapilli and lava bombs about 500 meters away from the vent and extending to the west of the volcano.

After eruptions, volcanic tremor and seismic amplitude decreased significantly to low values.
