Semeru volcano (East Java, Indonesia): dangerous pyroclastic flows continue

The volcano continues to produce pyroclastic flows and its activity remains at elevated levels.
Hot rock falls traveled in direction of Besuk Kobokan reaching length of at least 3000 m from the summit today. A lifted ash plume separating from the pyroclastic density current rose approx. 500 m above the summit.
The local volcano observatory PVMBG also reported a seismic signal with a maximum amplitude of 16 mm and a duration of 233 seconds.
