The Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Darwin recorded a strong eruptive episode from the volcano on 20 October.
Powerful explosions sent ash columns to estimated 50,000 ft (15 km) altitude which extended to the NW of the volcano.
A huge ash plume was seen rising from the Bogia district as shared by the Rabaul Volcano Observatory.
