Lewotolo volcano (Lesser Sunda Islands, Indonesia): ongoing strombolian activity

The volcano continues to produce occasional strombolian activity.

The explosive eruption occurred from its crater at 22:50 local time today accompanied by ejected scoria at about 300 m-600 m distance from the summit.

An ash plume rose approximately 3,280 ft (1,000 m) above the crater.

Seismic instruments detected 140 volcano-tectonic earthquakes today.

The warning bulletin states that ballistic impacts of volcanic bombs and pyroclastic flows and lahars could affect an area of about 3 km distance from the main crater.
