The activity at the volcano has been increasing during the past two weeks characterized by moderate-to-strong vulcanian explosions.
The volcano produced a series of strong explosions at 08:46, 08:59 and 18:20 local time today as reported by observers in social media and also Civil Protection Mexico. Ash plumes rose 3,937 ft (1,200 m) above the summit and drifted north-northwest. Blocks were ejected as far as 500 m away from the crater.
The seismic network recorded 379 minutes of internal tremor.
130 emissions of water vapor and gases were detected.
