Explosion from Semisopochnoi volcano this morning (image: AVO)
The explosive eruption of the volcano continues from the Mount Cerberus crater characterized by low-level ash emissions.
The Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) reported that sporadic short-lived explosions of several minutes continue to occur detected in infrasound data. Ash plumes reached about 10,000 ft (3,048 m) altitude and extended to the east of the volcano. Plumes continue to dissipate gradually with an hour or two.
The seismic station recorded periods of continuous internal volcanic tremor.
