The alert level for the volcano was raised to „yellow“, as an elevated seismic activity has been recorded.
The Alaska Volcano Observatory’s seismic network detected a series of small, shallow earthquakes yesterday. Earthquakes were located 7 km southwest of the Korovin volcano at depths between 3 and 6 km.
Earthquakes represent an increase from background seismic activity, but may not necessarily lead to an eruption.
