Etna (Sicily, Italy): (29 Jun) The amazingly regular series of paroxysms from the New SE crater at very regular intervals of approx. 20-30 hours continues with no signs of ending soon. Since the last update, two more lava-fountaining episodes occurred Sunday and yesterday:
After having rested for less than 18 hours, strombolian activity restarted at 09:12 local time Sunday (27 June) morning, increased rapidly after around 10 am and turned into lava fountaining by 11 am, which lasted until 11:50, creating an eruption plume that rose to approx. 6.5 km altitude.

Rincón de la Vieja (Costa Rica): (29 Jun) The explosive eruption of the volcano continues.
A vigorous phreatic explosion occurred from the summit crater at around 05:42 local time this morning as reported local observatory OVSICORI-UNA. The volcano generated an increasingly tall and dense column, mostly containing gas and steam with some amount of ash. The plume reached up to 12,900 ft (3,900 m) altitude and drifted N-NW. The explosive event lasted about 3 minutes.
