Vents and lava flows of the 22-23 May 2021 eruption of Nyiragongo (USGS)
The situation around Goma remains tense. Earthquakes continue in the area, but fortunately seem to follow a decreasing trend overall.
Several scientists, notably from Italy’s INGV, are arriving in the area to help the underfunded Goma Volcano Observatory staff monitoring the volcano and asses the situation.
