The eruption that started yesterday evening continues. Its vent, a new eruptive fissure is located on the southern flank of the Enclos depression, just below the old Château Fort cinder cone.
Scientists from the volcano observatory took an overflight in the morning (s. image). According to the observatory, by now only the southern, downhill section of the eruptive fissure is active, producing mild lava fountains from two principal vents and feeding a lava flow. A new spatter rampart is quickly growing into a new cinder cone around the main emission point.
