Popocatépetl volcano (Mexico): rapidly decreasing of tremor

A significant change in activity has occurred since the last update (21 January 21) as we reported ongoing elevated tremor that started at the end of December 2020.
On 22 January a volcanic tremor started to rapidly decrease and continues with periods of low amplitude values reaching 300-750 min / day around which it has been fluctuating during the past 9 days. Seismic network detected a sharp decrease from 770 minutes on 28 January to 42 minutes of volcanic tremor on 29 January.

Vulcanian activity continues from the summit crater producing an ash columns that reached up to 19,000 ft (5,800 m) altitude.
