Sakurajima volcano (Kyushu, Japan): moderate-to-strong explosions continue

Explosive eruption of the volcano continues characterized by moderate-to-strong vulcanian-type explosions which become near-continuous.

Another eruption at the volcano occurred from Minamidake summit crater at 14:55 local time today producing relatively large ash content. An ash plume rose to an altitude of 7,000 ft (2,133 m) and drifted east.
