Pacaya volcano (Guatemala): flank-to-lateral eruption continues

Eruptive fissure generates the lava flow at Pacaya volcano from satellite yesterday (image: Sentinel 2)

The effusive-explosive eruption of the volcano continues characterized by flank-to-lateral eruption.
The lava flow on the southwestern eruptive fissure remains active, currently about 325 m long.

Strombolian-type explosions are recorded with scoria thrown at an approximate height of 100 meters above the Mackenney summit crater.

The seismic instruments recorded internal tremor associated with explosions and lava flow and magma rising within the volcano edifice.
