…22 Apr:
The volcano remains very active, producing near-constant emissions of ash plumes that have been rising to approx. 500-1,000 m above the crater, and creating plumes that have been drifting towards westerly directions at altitudes around 10,000 ft (3 km), as reported by numerous ash advisory warnings from VAAC Washington.
Volcanologists from Costa Rica’s volcano observatory (OVISCOR UNA) continue to closely monitor its activity both on site and via satellite-based remote sensing. Seismic measurements have detected frequent, low-amplitude earthquakes related to the ash emissions. The latest series of ash emissions have been occurring primarily from so-called Bocca A, the vent south of the main crater, and no longer from Bocca C, as was the case a week ago.
