Another, 13th effusive period commenced within the Halemaʻumaʻu crater floor on 10 March at 02:36 AM local time.
The phase was preceded by sporadic spattering from the north vent, reaching 15-30 feet (5-10 m) height, that in turn intensified into a spectacular fountaining. Lava fountains reached 400-500 feet (120-150 meters) by 03:30 AM local time, sending multiple lava flows that layered the lava lake.
Meanwhile, the 13th episode of the eruptive activity paused at 03:13 PM local time on 11 March. The north vent ceased fountaining abruptly at 03:11 PM local time. Subsequently, the south fountain became unsteady and also ceased activity by 03:13 PM local time. The period lasted for 12 hours and 37 minutes, and lava flows have covered more than 60% of Halemaʻumaʻu crater floor.
